How to trade on vacation ?

How to trade on vacation

Hello, dear friends Forex traders! Summer is in full swing, many of us go to distant lands: to warm the bones in the sun in Spain, wander through the cathedrals of Paris, buy all the trash on sale in Milan, or just dive with sharks in the Emirates. But what about trading? After all the money, as we remember from the Wall Street movie, does not sleep!

How to trade in harsh conditions of five-star hotels, what to take to the trip, what apps not to forget to install on your smartphone, and the like, we will tell today. All about trading on vacation!

What to take with you?

ka pasiimti su savimi

Laptop and mouse

The most important. Brokers’ marketers can sing the songs of the era of mobile trading with iPhones, but a full-fledged computer cannot be replaced with it.

What laptop to choose? If we talk about the road version - ultrabook. If the trip is long, it makes sense to take a usual 15-inch one. This is how I choose a laptop: if I go for 1-2 weeks, then take an ultrabook, if 3-4 or more - 15-inch one.

Personally, I prefer the Asus company. I won’t tell about some specific models because new ones constantly come out. Choose by the price/quality ratio and reviews on Google.

“But what about the Macbook? It’s so cool and it has an apple on the cover” Macbook - in fact, is jus tan expensive internet browser. If you pay attention to what hipsters sitting at Starbucks are doing on the Macbook, you will see that in 99% of cases - it is either social networks or mail. Because Macbook is not intended for anything more.

If you are suddenly presented with this notebook with an apple on the cover- don’t hurry to sell it. Fortunately, Apple has left the possibility to install Windows.

As for the mouse - it takes a little place a little and is much more convenient than the touchpad. Not always, but I try to take it with me.

Smartphone and tablet

Although such devices don’t allow you to trade fully, but in the case, if a computer crashes (and it happens at the most inopportune moment), it can be great to help out. And is just convenient. Personally, I have a bunch of iPhone + iPad. If Apple computers are not really good, mobile devices are better.

Socket adapter

An important detail, which many people (including me) sometimes forget. Find out in advance through the Internet what sockets are used in the country where you are going. And buy an adapter, if needed. An adapter can be purchased at the airport, they often have them in hotels. But you better should not count on the hotels. In the era of online shopping, you can buy an adapter before traveling.

PowerBank

Despite the prevalence of sockets in the airports and cafes, it is not superfluous to bring along an external battery for your phone/tablet. And do not forget to charge it.

Bank cards

And a lot 🙂 Banks are fond of blocking tourists’ cards. And not all the cards support transactions. Therefore, the more cards you have - the better. Generally, when traveling I try to use Payoneer card. Nobody blocks them, all transactions succeed and there are no fees for currency conversion.

Flash drive

Also handy. Especially when you need to print something. And still, it is possible to install a separate MT4 on it.

The Internet in hotels

The Internet in hotels

When choosing a hotel, it is worth paying attention to nuances: whether there is available Wi-Fi for free? Unfortunately, even in expensive hotels, WI-Fi is often paid. Sometimes it’s rapacious $ 20-30 per day. So, if there are several accommodation options, it is better to choose the one with free internet.

The Internet may be free, but with reservations:

Access only in the lobby

It occurs more often than you would like. As a rule, it is a weak signal, which doesn’t even reach the second floor. Yes, comfortable chairs, tables, and air conditioning, but the maximum that you can do is to open a couple of positions, send some pictures or read the news. It is unlikely to connect to the VPS-server.

Access in the room

Consider yourself lucky. It is quite a reasonable option. Speed is usually enough even for video calls.

Access throughout the hotel

Best option. With this service, you can trade directly on a lounger by the pool or on the beach, sipping a cocktail. In fact, with the Internet, your vacation is in no danger!

The Internet in cafes and restaurants

Well, it is unlikely someone will have problems with it. Although, again, there are nuances - such as cafes may require you Like on Facebook, or create an account in the system. To register, you can use the https://10minutemail.com/ service.

The Internet on plane

The Internet on plane

Now, some companies offer WI-FI on board during the flight. Speed is, of course, not very high, you won’t watch online videos. But to read the latest article on forextraderportal.com or to close a couple of deals is possible. Just pay attention to the prices and restrictions. Aeroflot has $10 for 10 megabytes (robbery), the Emirates - 500 MB for $1. Prices vary greatly.

Mobile Internet

Mobile Internet

Forget about “beneficial” options from the mobile operators. This is robbery, there is often no connection at all, plus a bunch of hidden fees.

It’s very simple: arriving at your destination, buy a local SIM card on the first day. When connecting explain that you need it mainly for the Internet - you will be advised the appropriate tariff. In many countries, there are special “tourist” SIM cards that self-destruct after N days. Going home – throw away the SIM card.

There is no intercity roaming anywhere except for Russia, so it will be possible to travel to different cities/states within the same country with the same SIM.
But some operators have modem mode unavailable by default - you will need to contact the operator. Therefore, if you are planning to use a sim card as a modem for the computer (all current smartphones have this option), clarify this nuance in advance when purchasing a SIM card.

There are different sorts of 4g-modems - in my opinion, if you have a smartphone that can act as a modem - this is rubbish. These modems work bad, wryly… I threw away about five.

Applications for smartphone

Applications for smartphone

Mobile Metatrader 4 – you can’t live without it 🙂

Remote Desktop (or equivalent) - for access to the VPS server;

Speedtest - to check the quality of the Internet;

CityMaps2Go (or any other off-map) - not to be lost, even without the Internet, in an unfamiliar city. Pre-download the map of your desired city and use it, even without the Internet;

Forex Calculator - do not forget about money management.

Instead of a conclusion

Instead of a conclusion

But better not to trade at your vacation. At all. Believe my experience 🙂

Either trade, but with the help of EA’s who quietly trad on the VPS server, without your intervention. Well, or something with a few enters, for example, strategy “Empire” once a week.

But it is better not to make any manual transactions. Nerves from losses, lost internet connection in the most inopportune moment, do you really need it? You’ve given a lot of money for this trip, waiting for it, possibly running with the documents for the visa. Why spoil your vacation? The market will not run away from you, opportunities have been and always will be. Return home and earn your millions. Have a good rest!

Take care, Michael
