Forex Market Hours

Forex market is open 24 hours a day. This provides an excellent opportunity for traders to trade at any time of the day or night. However, even though it does not seem so important in the beginning, to become a successful currency trader, one of the most important points is the trade at the right time.

So, when to trade and why?

The best time to trade - when the market is most active and the largest number of participants produce large volumes of transactions - is the European Session (London) and the first half of American session (New York). And in times when the market is quiet - in the Asian session, the best option would often be not to open a position and even not to turn on the trading terminal.

But how to know exactly when the London and America are opening? Here an online tool (monitor) of trading sessions will help us.

How to Use it?

1) Choose a time zone so that time of your broker terminal (not of your residence!) coincides with a green square on the monitor.
2) Push the GO button and we see when everything begins and ends.

For example, if your broker is Roboforex (GMT +3 in summer and GMT +2 in winter), the Forex session time will be as follows:

London opens at 10:00 and closes at 19:00 GMT +3
New York opens at 15:00 and closes at 24:00 GMT +3
Tokyo opens at 2:00 am and closes at 11:00 am GMT +3
Sydney opens at 24:00 and closes at 9:00 am GMT +3

Thus, there are times when two sessions are superimposed:
New York and London: 15:00 to 19:00 Moscow
Sydney and Tokyo: from 24:00 to 8:00 am Moscow
London and Tokyo: from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Moscow

For example, trading in currency pairs EURUSD and GBPUSD will be the most productive in the London session and the first hours of the US, when both markets work for these currencies. In these overlapping trading hours will be the highest trade volume and therefore, you will have a better chance of making a profit.
